Veterinary Assistant

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough cleaning and sanitization of exam rooms, treatment areas, and common spaces to maintain a clean and safe environment for animals, clients, and staff.

  • Handle laundry duties, ensuring that all linens, towels, and bedding are properly cleaned, folded, and organized.

  • Assist in stock maintenance by keeping supplies well-stocked and organized.

  • Prepare vaccines under the guidance of veterinary staff.

  • Assist in basic animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures, ensuring the safety of both animals and staff.

  • Provide support to veterinary technicians and veterinarians as needed, demonstrating a willingness to learn and contribute to the team's success.

  • Cross training in reception duties such as answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and processing payments. 

 

Expectations:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Compassionate demeanor when handling animals, clients, and fellow team members.

Veterinary Technician

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Mastery of all the veterinary assistant skills 

  • Restrains pets using Fear Free protocol techniques

  • Advanced anesthetic monitoring

  • Triage phone calls

  • Advanced venipuncture skills

  • Radiology positioning & techniques 

  • Composes patient surgical and hospitalization discharge instructions

  • Fill and double check prescription medications

  • I.V catheterization

  • Anesthetic monitoring

  • Induction and Intubation skills

  • CPR training

  • Dental prophylaxis & radiograph positioning

Expectations:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

  • Must be willing to work under pressure.

  • Requires the ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly.

  • Requires visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions.

  • Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone.

  • Requires adequate fine motor skills and attention to detail

Veterinary Receptionist

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Answers the phones in a professional manner to schedule appointments, refill meds, and direct to the appropriate person if they have medical questions. 

  • Understands how to navigate veterinary software to efficiently schedule appointments, check clients in and out, and look up records of patients, input records into patient file, invoice appropriately and ensure accuracy, X-charge processing.

  • Basic client education–explaining the importance of preventative care and vaccinations 

  • Keeps appointment flow running smoothly, ensures teamwork and considerate communication

  • Keeps reception area clean and organized throughout the day, ensure client bathroom is kept clean & stocked, and assists in the end of day cleaning wherever needed

  • Runs EOD/EOM and checks balance reports for accuracy

Expectations:

  • Must be willing to work under pressure.

  • Dependable attendance is required.

  • Requires the ability to walk, bend, stand and reach occasionally.

  • Requires visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions.

Hospital Manager

Primary Responsibilities: ​​

  • Moderate to advanced knowledge of all job functions assigned to veterinary technicians, receptionists, and assistants.

  • Maintain full time status at 38-40 hours per week.

  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to fulfill the requirements of this position.

  • Manage inventory, and oversee proper storage of supplies and equipment.

  • Manage employee schedules and time off requests

  • Fill in as needed, and provide training to all areas of the hospital.

  • Perform job evaluations for all employees.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and laws. This includes but is not limited to OSHA, DEA, and the Department of Labor.

  • Ability to direct, guide and assist employees with problem solving.

  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications utilized by the practice
